Desired Character: Pansy Parkinson, Slytherin
Portrayed by: Scarlett Byrne (the actress who portrayed Pansy in HBP)
Physical Appearance: Pansy is a pretty girl, though her personality tends to diminish her looks to those around her. She has dark brown hair and soft features, but her striking green eyes give her a bit of an edge. Her nose is a tad squat, which is a soft spot for Pansy. She is average height, about 5’5”, and slim; Pansy takes extreme pride in making sure she looks her best at all times, especially around Draco Malfoy.
Personality Summary: Outwardly confident, extremely flawed, and unashamedly bitchy, Pansy isn’t one to reckon with. She is quick to point out the physical and social faults of others, especially fellow female students, and she thrives on making others feel they are beneath her. However, Pansy tends to be all talk and can easily fade into the background and be forgotten, which is one of her biggest fears.
Pansy’s one painfully clear weakness is Draco Malfoy and she has no qualms about letting everyone around her know just how much she worships him. Pansy is in love with Draco and feels she understands him on a level no one else can. No matter how poorly he may treat her or how questionable his decisions may be, when he tells her to jump Pansy simply asks, “How high?”
When she isn’t fawning over Draco, Pansy scrapes by at Hogwarts. She is content to let her family name and Slytherin education take her where it may, as long as she can follow Draco along the way. Don’t be fooled by her obsession with Malfoy as she is cold to, and uninterested in, most everyone else around her. Pansy is shallow, unforgiving, and foul. She will pick a fight with anyone and won’t back down until she’s thoroughly stomped all over their ego.
Brief History: Pansy has led a typical privileged, pureblood life. A true Slytherin, she was raised to believe that Muggles and Muggle-borns are beneath her and contribute nothing to the Wizarding world. Her parents showered her with lavish gifts and she never felt the pains of a lonely or restricted childhood. Honestly, she was a spoiled brat of a child and has continued on to become a spoiled brat of a teenager.
Sample: From the second he stormed in here and threw his belongings on the table, I knew he was upset. The extra sneer to his lips, the way he clenches his hands, the few strands of pale blonde hair that fall into his eye line, the extra belittling of Crabbe and Goyle: they’re all easy tells, at least for me. His father must be pressuring him; no one can get Draco riled up like that man. He’s always pushing Draco, making him feel like he isn’t good enough and he can’t see the effect it has. I can, and it makes me loathe Lucius for not appreciating his son.
Watching him from across the Common Room, I’m careful to avert my eyes whenever he looks up. It’s frustrating that the times I know he needs me most are when he pushes me away. Draco should know that I’m the only one who understands, that I’m the only one who will be by his side no matter what. He thinks he can trust Crabbe and Goyle but they’re just disgusting fools who latched onto Draco as soon as they could. They recognized the Malfoy name and knew it would be a free ride if they could find a way to be of use to Draco.
I can see him struggling to concentrate on his Potions assignment. Lucius must have really dug into Draco if he’s bothering with Potions when he knows full well Snape will pass him no matter what. I want to be near him so badly, but I know he’ll just snap at me. It would almost be worth it; hearing his voice get louder as he channels his anger at me, because he knows I can take it … I can see a first year eyeing Draco from here and when she scans the room, I give her a look that makes her shut her book and scurry up to the dormitories. Tacky little girl.
They all make me sick, especially these little girls I’ve seen giving Draco longer-than-usual stares. They think he’s so dark and mysterious, but they just don’t get it. None of them are good enough for him anyway. Never mind that their families are of a glaringly lesser quality, but frankly they’re all rather unattractive. Cindy McBrayer’s acne won’t clear up for years, Shoshanna Tosh has wretched split ends, Dana Weston has fat calves; it’s all very sad, really. They sit there hoping and dreaming about the boy they’re meant to be with, but I already know the man I’m meant to care for. I’ll take his attention any way he wishes to give it.
